School of Nursing

The School of Nursing has consistently ranked at the top of the nationís nursing schools in five nationwide surveys since 1984. The school has 120 faculty members in three departments: Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems, Family and Child Nursing, and Psychosocial and Community Health. Of its 483 students, 304 are graduate students (MN, MS, PhD), engaged in research and research training. The school has three active institutional research training grants. The School of Nursing has received more NIH funding for research than any other school of nursing for 14 of the past 15 years. Funded research programs offer a rich array of clinical research opportunities with individuals and families in hospitals, schools and the community. Collaboration with other UW Health Sciences schools is a foundation for most of the clinical research conducted in the School of Nursing. Coursework and seminars developed for the Ph.D. in Nursing Science program are open to scholars throughout the university and will complement the coursework specified for Clinical Research Scholars in this application.
