School of Public Health and Community Medicine

The UW School of Public Health and Community Medicine is a national leader in innovative public health education and research. It ranked fourth in the nation in the US News and World Report graduate school survey, second among public institutions. Established in 1970, the school has 214 faculty and a student body of 752. It is organized into five departments (Biostatistics, Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Health Services, and Pathobiology) and numerous interdisciplinary programs. The school is highly regarded within the university community and nationally for its outstanding research, much of which is conducted through 28 interdisciplinary centers and institutes. The school has excellent collaborative relationships with other health sciences schools, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and the Group Health Cooperative Center for Health Studies.
