The Hall Council Executive Board is made up of five positions, committee chairs, and representative positions who will be liaisons to the Residence Hall Student Association (RHSA), Students Expressing Environmental Dedication (SEED), and The Associated Students at UW Student Senate (ASUW). These positions are selected via interview and announced to the community on October 4th. Hall Councils are a great way to gain leadership skills and work as a team to create an amazing community within your residence hall. When you apply, you will be applying to be a part of the team, rather than for a specific position.
The Positions
- Facilitate General Council meetings on Monday nights
- Facilitate Executive Board meetings
- Have weekly 1 on 1 meeting with Advisor
- Have 1 on 1 meetings with each of the other four executive board members every other week
- Help to recruit and advertise for Hall Council during the first weeks of Fall Quarter
- Attend weekly Director's Round Table meetings
- Recruit residents to attend Hall Council meetings and events
- Empower residents to become active in their community
- Advertise opportunities for involvement
- Coordinate activities at General Council meetings to welcome and include members (icebreakers, energizers, fun games, etc.)
- Coordinate food/drink for meetings
- Coordinate recognition efforts
- Have regular 1 on 1 meetings with Director and Advisor
- Record and distribute minutes of Exec board and General Council meetings
- Distribute information about Hall Council to residents
- Maintain mailing lists
- Coordinate the newsletter
- Maintain an online presence (facebook, twitter, website, etc.)
- Act as Photographer and Historian
- Have regular 1 on 1 meetings with Director and Advisor
- Have regular 1 on 1 meetings with Director and Advisor
- Serve as the RHSA Head Representative
- Maintain open communication between RHSA and Hall Councils
- Ensure a forum for student input
- Oversee the other RHSA reps, ASUW Senators, and SEED Liaison
- Help Reps, Senators, and Liaisons to create efficient presentations
- Meet weekly with the Senators, Reps, and Liaisons
- Have regular 1 on 1 meetings with Director and Advisor
- Manage the Hall Council budget
- Oversee committees
- Meet weekly with all committee chairs following the General Council meeting
- Act as primary contact for RHSA programming
- Have regular 1:1s with Advisor and Director
- Represent Hall Council to three main organizations on campus
- RHSA (the Residence Hall Student Association)
- SEED (Students Expressing Environmental Dedication)
- ASUW (Associated Student of UW Student Senate)
- RISE (Residential Involvement through Social Engagmenent)
- ACT (Advocacy Countil for Tomorrow)
- Give reports at Monday night General Meetings
- Meet regularly with the AD of Representation
- Facilitate and lead a committee of your choosing
- There are no standing committees, so the community can choose to create any committees they want to see. These can be specific programs or events, lead an advocacy effort, outreach to specific members of the community, or even a group of students who want to recognize others.
- The length of the committee is at the discression of the Chair and can be active for the just durration of planning and implementing a specific event, or a year long committee to celebrate diversity.

The Process
1) Fill out the application before 8:00 a.m. on Sept. 30th
2) You will be contacted to set up an interview.
3) By Monday October 4th, you will find out if you've recieved a position
