Student Organizations
Within the residence hall community there
are a host of organizations that provide many involvement opportunities,
programs, and leadership
development forums. Whether you want to find a place to meet people,
dedicate a few hours of your time to community service, or get involved
with larger
programs, these organizations can provide those opportunities to create
a valuable and rewarding residence hall experience.
RHSA - Residence
Hall Student Association
RHSA is the student
government body that represents the students of the residence
halls. This organization
works with all levels of leadership on student issues including programming,
voicing resident concerns, discussing food and housing improvements
& changes, and working
with campus community organizations. For more information, check out

SEED - Students
Expressing Environmental Dedication
Dedicated
to the helping the environment, SEED creates programs to promote
environmental issues in the halls including area clean up,
recycling, composting, and other programs. For more information,

NRHH - National Residence
Hall Honorary
This organization
is comprised of the top 1% of student leaders in the residence halls.
Their programs
are based on recognition and community service. Each quarter new members
are inducted. Check the NRHH
website to see if you are eligible.
PRB
- Peer Review Board
Peers
to peers. The PRB, composed of student representatives from
the residence halls,
provides residents with the opportunity to become actively
involved in the student conduct process. The purpose of
the PRB is to adjudicate alleged violations of the Residence
Hall
System Contract and to determine appropriate sanctions for
residents responsible for contract violations. Residents
are encouraged to apply to become PRB members. For more

Capital
Projects Committee (CPC)
As a part of the Capital Projects
Committee you research and implement improvements in the residence
halls. Ranging from purchasing better
games in the rec. room
of your hall to painting murals in a lounge, you initiate the changes the residents
want. Another role of CPC is working with Housing and Food Services (HFS) in
its large renovation projects, as they did in the creation of the "8" in
McMahon. CPC offers an excellent opportunity to learn about the operation/facilities
side of HFS and how equipment purchases and facility improvements are budgeted
and completed.
Cuisine Action Committee (CAC)
The Cuisine Action Committee meets weekly with food service administrators to
address complaints and provide student feedback regarding the services it provides.
The CAC deals with a wide variety of food service issues. This committee also
plans programs like recipe contests, sampling parties, and cooking contests like
Iron Chef.
The Hall Wellness Committee (HWC)
The Hall Wellness Committee plans programs that
promote good health and well-being for residents. It provides opportunities
for fitness and
athletic competition, with activities including IMA trips, setting up intramural
teams, running groups, and inter-hall activities. In addition to this, workshops
are also planned with topics like dieting, substance abuse, good health habits,
and other related subjects. Lastly, Sonics, Mariners, and UW game nights are
also planned by this group.
Regional and National Involvement Opportunities:
PACURH - Pacific
Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls
Many
of this regions' colleges and universities are affiliated
with PACURH. PACURH is comprised of schools in Washington, Oregon,
California, Hawaii, Alaska, British Columbia and Australia.
Each year the region host conferences and establish networks across to
region to exchange ideas and share programs. For

NACURH - National
Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls
Schools
from across the United States are affiliated with NACURH which
operates similarly with PACURH but on a national level. For

NSRO - NACURH
Service and Recognition Office
The NACURH organization
has two national offices. One of those offices, the NSRO, is
currently being hosted at the University of
Washington. A group of UW students staff the office and work to
support the mission of NACURH. For more information, check out the
