Student Organizations

Within the residence hall community there are a host of organizations that provide many involvement opportunities, programs, and leadership development forums. Whether you want to find a place to meet people, dedicate a few hours of your time to community service, or get involved with larger programs, these organizations can provide those opportunities to create a valuable and rewarding residence hall experience.

RHSA - Residence Hall Student Association
RHSA is the student government body that represents the students of the residence halls. This organization works with all levels of leadership on student issues including programming, voicing resident concerns, discussing food and housing improvements & changes, and working with campus community organizations. For more information, check out the RHSA website.

SEED - Students Expressing Environmental Dedication

NRHH - National Residence Hall Honorary
This organization is comprised of the top 1% of student leaders in the residence halls. Their programs are based on recognition and community service. Each quarter new members are inducted. Check the NRHH website to see if you are eligible.

PRB - Peer Review Board
Peers to peers. The PRB, composed of student representatives from the residence halls, provides residents with the opportunity to become actively involved in the student conduct process. The purpose of the PRB is to adjudicate alleged violations of the Residence Hall System Contract and to determine appropriate sanctions for residents responsible for contract violations. Residents are encouraged to apply to become PRB members. For more information, contact the Peer Review Board Adviser at 206-685-1738.

RHSA Subcommittees that students can be a part of:
For more information about any of these groups, check out the RHSA website.

Capital Projects Committee (CPC)
As a part of the Capital Projects Committee you research and implement improvements in the residence halls. Ranging from purchasing better games in the rec. room of your hall to painting murals in a lounge, you initiate the changes the residents want. Another role of CPC is working with Housing and Food Services (HFS) in its large renovation projects, as they did in the creation of the "8" in McMahon. CPC offers an excellent opportunity to learn about the operation/facilities side of HFS and how equipment purchases and facility improvements are budgeted and completed.

Cuisine Action Committee (CAC)
The Cuisine Action Committee meets weekly with food service administrators to address complaints and provide student feedback regarding the services it provides. The CAC deals with a wide variety of food service issues. This committee also plans programs like recipe contests, sampling parties, and cooking contests like Iron Chef.

The Hall Wellness Committee (HWC)
The Hall Wellness Committee plans programs that promote good health and well-being for residents. It provides opportunities for fitness and athletic competition, with activities including IMA trips, setting up intramural teams, running groups, and inter-hall activities. In addition to this, workshops are also planned with topics like dieting, substance abuse, good health habits, and other related subjects. Lastly, Sonics, Mariners, and UW game nights are also planned by this group.
