Maya Esquivido

American Indian Studies


Maya Esquivido is an enrolled member of the Nor Rel Muk Wintu Nation and a Junior at the University of Washington, Seattle Campus. Majoring in American Indian Studies her research interest look into the identity of Indigenous women and non-federally recognized tribes. On campus, she is a member of the First Nation Student Club Organization and volunteers at the local Montessori Preschool in her local community. After the completion of her Bachelor’s degree, Maya plans to pursue her Ph.D. in Social Work and help her tribal community fight for federal recognition. Aside from school, she enjoys swimming and spending time with her family outdoors, hunting, and fishing.
