University of Washington Early Identification Program

The staff is composed of a program director, a principal investigator, associate director, counselor coordinator and three graduate advisors who are in the process of obtaining doctoral degrees.

Gabriel Gallardo, Ph.D.

Dr. Gallardo earned his Ph.D. in Geography. His research interests include the geography of race and ethnicity, Latino settlement in the U.S., and the socio-spatial dimensions of ethnic economies. His dissertation research focused on the social, economic, and geographic dimensions of African American, Chinese, Korean, and Mexican entrepreneurship. He is also interested in minority student access to graduate education and graduate retention issues.

Rosa is a UW graduate with a B.A. in Art History. She has been working for the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity full time now for the last 5 years. She is very interested in learning about other cultures and languages. She is currently working on her Masters in Public Administration and plans to pursue a Ph.D. in International Studies.

 

   

Jorge Martinez

Jorge Martinez is a fourth year graduate student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Washington and has been with McNair EIP since Fall 2009.  Jorge is originally from Houston, TX.  He received his B.A. in Sociology at Texas A&M University in 2007 and his M.A. in Sociology at the University of Washington in 2010.  His research interests include deviance and social control, juvenile delinquency, street and prison gangs, immigration/assimilation, and demography.

Ashley McClure

Ashley McClure has worked for the McNair/EIP office since Winter Quarter of 2009. She is also in her fourth year of study in the Department of Sociology at the University of Washington. She grew up in Midland, TX and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, where she earned a B.A. and an M.A. in Sociology. Her interests in sociology are family, sex/gender, health and stratification.
