DESCRIPTION:There will be a symposium on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 to honor the life and work of DR. JAMES FINDLAY WALLACE, who was director of our Internal Medicine Residency Program for 30 years. The symposium, “The Findlay Wallace Symposium: The Future of Graduate Medical Education” will be held from 1-5pm, in the Hogness Auditorium, with a reception to follow in the lobby. Moderated by Dr. William Bremner, Chair of the Department of Medicine, speakers include Dr. Paul Ramsey, CEO, UW Medicine and dean of the School of Medicine, Dr. Ken Steinberg, Internal Medicine Residency program director, Dr. Henry Schultz, professor, Mayo Clinic and former chair of the Internal Medicine Residency Review Committee, Dr. Eric Holmboe, CMO and senior vice president, American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Laurence Altman, medical columnist for the New York Times, and Dr. Findlay Wallace. The symposium will also discuss the future of residency and fellowship training programs at the University of Washington and nationally, the ACGME’s New Accreditations System (NAS), and the WWAMI program.
