Description
Residents will be exposed to managing primary care issues in relation to women’s health care, i.e., hormone therapy, contraception, osteoporosis, abnormal pap smears, vaginitis, STIs, and abnormal uterine bleeding.
Objectives
- Understand basic women’s health topics listed below
- Proficiency performing routine breast, PAP and pelvic examinations
- Experience performing endometrial boipsies
- Residents should gain knowledge and skills in the following areas of gynecology:
- Gynecologic history and pelvic examination
- Evaluation and management of patients with
common gynecologic issues:
- Abnormal pap smear
- Amenorrhea and hirsutism
- Breast disease
- Contraception
- Dyspareunia
- Fibroids
- Gynecologic malignancies
- Infertility
- Menopause (including osteoporosis screening)
- PCO
- Pelvic mass
- Pelvic pain and endometriosis
- Preconception care
- Premenstrual syndrome
- Sexually Transmitted Infections
- Urinary incontinence and pelvic relaxation
- Vaginal bleeding (pregnant and nonpregnant)
- Vaginitis
