Description

Offered to R2/R3-1/session

  • The PMC Sleep Medicine Clinic offers the opportunity for exposure to a wide variety of sleep disorders which are commonly encountered in all fields of medicine, including:
    Sleep disorderd breathing (Obstructive/Central Sleep Apnea)
  • Movement disorders in sleep
  • Narcolepsy
  • Insomnia
  • Circadian rhythm disturbances (sleep phasedisorders, shift work disorders)

Focus of education will be on identifying potential sleep disorders, initiating appropriate evaluation, and avenues of treatment for various conditions. Depending on individual interest level, additional topics can include introduction to polysomnography, sleep and comorbid medical conditions, sleep pharmacology, etc.

The time listed is part of the cardiorespiratory rotation. If the cardiorespiratory block does not fill up Monday a.m.'s can be available for other residents.
