Number of residents and interns in clinic on any shift: 1 resident per clinic block
This rotation is designed to familiarize the resident with the preoperative
medical evaluation of patients undergoing elective, noncardiac surgical
procedures. Particular attention will be paid to preoperative cardiac
risk stratification and perioperative beta-blockade. Perioperative management
of anticoagulants, diabetes medications, and corticosteroid supplementation
will also be addressed. This rotation may be of interest to residents
planning a career in primary care, hospitalist medicine or cardiology.
One R1-R3 resident staffs this clinic.
