The Director of Development is the senior staff officer responsible for implementing all development activities of the Museum. S/he will oversee the annual effort to raise operating support and governmental appropriations including program funding, annual fund gifts, and major gifts and the capital campaign.
The Director of Development manages the day-to-day activities of a professional staff working in a fast-paced office with a high degree of activity. This individual will have regular contact with the Museum Director, Deputy Directors, and Trustees and will be expected to be an active member of the Museum’s senior management team.
While much of the Director of Development’s activities take place behind the scenes, s/he will be required to work with individuals and groups from across the social spectrum in many different settings. The Director of Development must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both in person and in writing.
