"This internship may be the most practical and the most fun I have yet experienced. I met a variety of important figures in the local museum world, I got to work closely with objects in a new setting, and most of all I had fun doing it."

The exhibits department is very different from the other portions of the Burke I have experienced. For one, the work is very different; there are large scale, aesthetic products that must be completed by a set deadline. The pace of work is varied, but often fast and furious. As an intern, my intent was to ‘stay out of the way’ and observe as much as possible, however I was soon drawn in to design discussions, even executive tours. Some internships involve ‘busy work’ or time consuming processes that are otherwise handled by paid staff; but my internship supervisor went out of his way to give me interesting, valuable work and open-ended problems for me to solve.
