Final Teaching Jury

As the final assessment in this course, you will be teaching a lesson based on one of the items listed below. Lessons will be 4 minutes in length.

Lessons will be taught in the order in which they appear below. The teachers will be selected at random at the final, so prepare to teach any of the 8 lessons. To make final preparations, each teacher will be excused from the final during the lesson preceding his/her own.

As with the practica throughout the term, teaching will be evaluated according to the following guidelines:
  • Demonstration of high-magnitude behavior (eye contact, speaking voice, etc.)
  • Student engagement in musical activity
  • Teacher command of the material
  • Clarity of musical tasks / specificity of feedback
  • Improvement in performance / achievement of objective(s)
No lesson plan is required for this assessment. However, you are welcome to use books, notes or any other materials you wish as part of your preparation and while you are teaching.

Please feel free to visit Dr. Morrison or Ms. Geiger for guidance on content and delivery as well as feedback on strategies you have planned.
