After a summer full of training, the midshipmen of the Husky Battalion returned to class on the beautiful campus of the University of Washington on the 25th of September. Just one week prior, the unit indoctrinated 22 new midshipmen in battalion orientation, teaching the new members about the NROTC routine and regulations as well as our sailboats and the university in general.
On the 27th of September, UW NROTC was host to Admiral Bridge and Colonel Meyers and other esteemed veterans and alumni of UW NROTC for the inaugural Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The Wall of Fame is currently located outside the 2nd deck classroom (CLK 219) and includes the names of every graduate of the program since the first commissioning class back in 1923. The Wall also includes the battle ensign from the USS Samuel B. Roberts, which was commanded by UW graduate LCDR Copeland during the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
Upcoming events for the Husky Battalion include: Navy and Marine Corps Birthday Ball on November 1st; Rum Run Sailing Race on November 2nd; Three-day Sailing Trip on November 8-10; Annual Veteran's Day Ceremony on November 11th and a few more for the month of November.
