Overview
The University of Washington's Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps conducts an annual orientation prior to the start of the fall quarter.The in coming midshipmen will be issued uniforms, indoctrinated to the customs and courtesies of the Naval service, and be introduced to the different communities available in the Navy and Marine Corps.
Swearing-In Ceremony
There will be a Swearing-In Ceremony on Sunday, September 21, 2008 in Kane Hall, Room 120. Family and friends encouraged to attend. Following the ceremony there will be a picnic for the battalion, family, and friends at Lower Woodland Park, shelter #3.
Streetside parking is limited to 2 hours in the area. Campus visitor parking is free on Sunday. Parking maps are available here. Parking at the picnic location is free. You may want to call the Visitor Information Center if you are unfamiliar with the area (206-543-9198).
Specific Information
Due to new PT uniforms being issued fleet wide, we are not able to obtain Navy issue PT shorts and shirts at this time. Please bring a pair of navy blue shorts for PT, or if you are a Marine option bring black shorts.
If you will be living off of the UW campus, please see the Reporting Information page for additional items to bring when reporting on Tuesday, September, 16.
In order to ensure you have properly fitting uniforms please fill out the uniform sizing chart and submit the form to the supply officer.
** All measurements must be taken by a professional tailor.
Finally, please familiarize yourself with the information available as it will make your orientation week much less stressfull.
