Portneuf Medical Center<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student credentialing and onboarding for clerkships rotating through Portneuf Medical Center are handled via myClinicalExchange (mCE), a web-based platform. There is a small cost to create an account to use the program. Reimbursements can be requested from GoWWAMI<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Idaho WWAMI office will add the rotation dates to mCE and the Portneuf Medical Center administrative team will approve the rotation and review any onboarding documents within that system. Please respond to any requests in a timely manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Housing<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The student and resident apartments are close to the clinic, hospital, and shopping (3-5 miles). There is a furnished basement 2-bedroom apartment that includes a washer and dryer, vacuum cleaner, and kitchen essentials (pots, pans, dishes, and toaster). It is expected that students replace what they use. Students and residents should bring their own linens, sheets, towels, and pillows. Under no circumstances are pets allowed in the apartments.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transportation<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cars are recommended. If rotating in winter, cars will need anti-freeze down to 0 F, snow tires, and chains. For travel process and reimbursement details, please refer to GoWWAMI<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experience<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

First day orientation will take place from 9:00AM \u2013 12:00PM. Students will receive their hospital ID badge and scheduled during orientation. Students can expect to be on call one night per week (Thursdays) from home, and the on-call doctor will reach out should they wish for the student to join. Students receive weekends off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students will work with all clinical faculty members in Pocatello. Students will spend mornings in the PEDS or NICU at the hospital and afternoons in the private practice setting of the outpatient clinic. Students do not need to wear a white clinic coat but are expected to wear a nametag in the hospital and clinic. All other equipment is available in the hospital or clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
