About UWPG

UW Photographers Group is an informal, collaborative group of people who meet regularly over their personal photographic work. The fluid membership is made up of current and past University of Washington staff, students, faculty, researchers, and friends from many disciplines, in and around Seattle, Washington.

UWPG Beginnings

One summer evening in 2001 Deborah Conger Hughes called a meeting of like minds from around campus: people who created personal work in photography while employed doing something else. Lively discussion ensued over the photographs people brought to show as they compared notes, gave feedback, compared methods, found common ground and new companionship. Meaningful critique and exhibiting work were high on the list of values to having a group which would meet regularly.
