June 5th, 6-8pm, Center for Urban Horticulture, UW campus Poster Session & Multimedia Presentations Multidisciplinary teams of students from three UW campuses have been working for 8 months to restore damaged ecosystems for community-based clients in the Puget Sound area. Join us to celebrate the completion of their projects and examine the innovative, science-based approaches developed and used by our students.
The Restoration Ecology Network has been recognized internationally in Science Magazine. Co-authors Warren Gold, UW Bothell; Kern Ewing, UW Seattle; John Banks, UW Tacoma; Martha Groom, UW Bothell; Tom Hinckley, UW Seattle; David Secord, UW Seattle; and Daniela Shebitz, UW Seattle have published an article about UWREN in the Education Forum of Science Magazine.
Kern Ewing and Warren Gold were awarded the John Rieger Award for 2004 from the Society for Ecological Restoration International (SERI). This award acknowledges the Society's debt to those who have dedicated their time and skills to the advancement of ecological restoration and/or to the development of the Society. Recipients of the award have also had significant impact on the theory, practice, or public awareness of restoration.
