WWAMI rural health research center
About Us
The WWAMI Rural Health Research Center (RHRC) is one of eight rural research centers funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration's Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) to perform policy-oriented research on issues related to rural health care. The WWAMI RHRC, which was established in the fall of 1988, is based in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine and works closely with the state offices of rural health, other departments, schools, the Washington State Department of Health, and Area Health Education Centers in the five WWAMI states (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho).
Major areas of inquiry being conducted at the WWAMI RHRC focus on:
-
Training and supply of rural health care providers and the content and outcomes of the care they provide.
-
Availability and quality of care for rural women and children, including obstetric and perinatal care.
Access to high-quality care for vulnerable and minority rural populations .
