Mark Doescher

Mark Doescher, MD, MSPH, became affiliated with the WWAMI Rural Health Research Center (RHRC) when he joined the faculty in 1997. In 2007, he became the Director and Principal Investigator of the RHRC and also the University of Washington Center for Health Workforce Studies. Mark's main research goals are to examine relationships between workforce supply, health care delivery, and health outcomes in rural and urban settings. He also is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine in the UW School of Medicine, and is the Principal Investigator of the UW site of the Physical Activity Policy Research Network (PAPRN), serving in that role since its inception in 2003. Mark also conducts research to improve nutrition, reduce tobacco use, and prevent chronic illness. He received his M.D.from U.C.S.F. in 1989. He completed residency training in Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and in Family Medicine at the University of Rochester/Highland Hospital.
