Welcome to The Seattle Innovation Symposium Web Site

The Internet was born in 1968.

It took nearly three decades to realize
the potential of its commercial applications.

Can we do it faster next time?

September 13-14, 2005, at the University of Washington, the first annual Seattle Innovation Symposium will bring prominent researchers in academe together with IT industry leaders to address this question, exploring how universities and businesses can collaborate to speed the creation of the next set of billion-dollar IT product sectors.

Building on the groundbreaking work of the Internet2 Business Applications Group, the symposium will focus not on specific innovations, but on developing awareness of the context in which radical innovations such as Internet1 evolve and using information about context to hasten the development of similar radical innovations in the future.
