The University of Iowa's Phonetics Flash Animation Project has animated side views and live action front views of productions of speech sounds. Sounds are divided into consonants and vowels, and further divided by their place, manner and voicing. Follow the link and click on "English" to begin.


Listen to the 1,000 Most Common Words in English

About.com's web page shows the top 250 most common words in English. If you click on a word, you will hear it pronounced correctly in English - you may have to turn the volume on your computer way up to hear it. This page also contains links to the other 750 most common words. Note: this is a commercial website.
