UW Affiliated Hospitals

Five major hospitals are integrated into the general surgery teaching program: University of Washington Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, Puget Sound Veterans Administration Medical Center, Seattle Children's Hospital and the Everett Clinic/Providence-Everett Hospital. These hospitals have a combined total of just under 1600 beds of which approximately 20% are general surgical beds. Each hospital's surgical service is staffed by full-time members of the faculty of the University of Washington School of Medicine.

University of Washington Academic Medical Center
UWMC Surgery Pavillion The UW Medical Center is a 450-bed comprehensive care facility with more than 100 outpatient clinics and multidisciplinary specialty centers, including a new state-of-the-art Surgery Pavilion. The nearly 741 attending physicians at UWMC are also full-time faculty members at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Explore UWMC
Harborview Medical Center
HMCThis 413-bed teaching and research hospital is owned by the county and managed by the University of Washington. In addition to having one of the top burn centers in the country, Harborview has a nationally recognized level-1 trauma center that serves Washington, Alaska, Idaho and Montana. Explore HMC
Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System
VAPSHCSOur VA receives the second highest level of funding in the US. Some of the medical center's services include the VA's first bone marrow transplant unit, a geriatric research/education/evaluation unit, a same-day surgical unit, the Center of Excellence for Alcohol, Substance Abuse Treatment, and Spinal Cord Injury.
