So long, farewell...
Jan. 5, 2011—It’s a sad day here at Inside Track HQ. We must regretfully tell you that, effective immediately, Track is going on hiatus indefinitely.
It may seem crazy to shut down a blog just as it’s gaining popularity and building a loyal audience, but there’s a method behind our madness.
As you know, UW Tacoma has set an ambitious goal: To dramatically increase enrollment for the 2011 and 2012 academic years in order to soften the blow of budget cuts. To help make that happen, Communication Services must dedicate most of its resources to supporting the efforts of our recruiters in Admissions Advising & Outreach. At our current staffing level, we can’t do that and still make Inside Track a viable news and information source for campus.
The Communication Services staff is excited to tackle this new challenge and ready to jump in with both feet. Over the next few months our staff will be working on new print pieces and advertising and continuing to overhaul the website in order to give UW Tacoma the big boost it needs. And don’t lose hope for Inside Track — although we don’t currently have the resources to run it, we feel that it’s very important to have a faculty and staff news blog. When the right staffing and resources return, so will the blog.
You may have read in this very blog that I’m leaving the university this month to pursue new opportunities. Rest assured that I’m not leaving because Inside Track is shutting down … and we’re not shutting down Inside Track because I’m leaving. The fates merely conspired to make these two events come together in the same month. I've posted a farewell message to my colleagues; you can read it here.

You can blame the Trophy Room in MAT 206 for the death of the Inside Track
