Alpine and Web Alpine Email Software
For information about how to use Alpine or Web Alpine for email at the UW, go to "Electronic Mail at the UW" at http://uw.edu/itconnect/email. The remainder of this information is for those who want to install Alpine as an email service.
Alpine is a fast, easy-to-use email client that is suitable for both the inexperienced email user as well as for the most demanding of power users. Alpine is based on the Pine® Message System, which was also developed at the University of Washington. Web Alpine is a Web-based version of Alpine.
UW faculty; UW staff; UW students; anyone who would like to install Alpine and Web Alpine
To get more information about Alpine and to download the software, go to:
http://uw.edu/alpine
The software is available for download at any time.
No charge.
Alpine (and Web Alpine) is open source software released under the Apache License, Version 2.0. The software is provided on an 'as-is' basis.
The UW is no longer actively developing Alpine and Web Alpine. However, the UW-sponsored electronic mailing list Alpine-Info covers features, bugs and workarounds, usage, installation, customization and more pertaining to the Alpine software. While unmoderated, it is intended primarily for discussion of matters of interest to systems/email administrators, developers, trainers, user support personnel, and others involved with Alpine messaging on a 'technical' level. For information on how to be added to or removed from the list, see Subscribing to the Alpine-Info mailing list (http://uw.edu/alpine/alpine-info/subscribing.html).
