Service Description: 

UW Email is an email service that allows electronic messages to be read and sent with a wide variety of email programs, including Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Mac Mail, Entourage, and Alpine. Web-based access is supported through Web Alpine.

Eligibility: 

UW faculty, UW staff.

Availability: 

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the exception of irregularly scheduled maintenance. 

Price: 

This service is included in the Technology Recharge Fee. 

A basic limit of 5 GB is included for faculty and staff, and 1 GB for shared accounts.

Additional data storage for this service is available for a fee. To increase your storage limit, go to the Manage Your UW NetID Resources  page, where you can enter a budget number and set the amount. The rate is $0.76 per GB per month. Billing begins July 1, 2011.

Effective June 30, 2011:
The UW Email service for all UW students ended June 30, 2011. All UW students now use UW Windows Live or UW Google Apps or a third-party vendor of their choice for email. Please see http://uw.edu/itconnect/email/student_decom.html for details. 
 
Student Email Exceptions: Departments needing to grant students access to UW Email can contact help@uw.edu for details.
 
 
Service Level Description: 
Effective March 1, 2011: Data storage limit is 5 GB for faculty, staff, and 1 GB for shared accounts.
 
Effective July 1, 2011: Additional space is available; see Price above.
 
UW Information Technology responds to queries within 2 business days.
