Brief Service Description: 
Notification service that enables UW NetID holders to be notified via email and/or SMS text regarding subscribed services
Service Description: 

Notify.UW is a tool that notifies students via email or mobile text message when a course has an opening, or closes, during the quarter registration process. This service is integrated into the UW Time Schedule and MyUW and is available by subscription.

 

Notify.UW is a provided by UW-IT in collaboration with the UW Office of the Registrar.

Eligibility: 

UW faculty; UW staff; UW students; Anyone with a UW NetID

How to Order: 

UW NetID holders may subscribe to Notify.UW. Simply go to notify.uw.edu and:

  1. Accept the Terms of Service
  2. Add at least one endpoint (email address, phone #) to your profile
Availability: 

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Price: 

This service is included in the Technology Recharge Fee.

No charge for use of the Notify.UW service by UW faculty, staff, and students

Computing workshops, Online workshop curriculum, and Microsoft IT Academy online courses.
Service Description: 

UW Information Technology provides resources for students, faculty and staff to develop technology skills through free walk-in computing workshops and access to internal online curriculum and Microsoft IT Academy.  Paid custom workshops for faculty and staff professional development are also available.

Service Options: 

Walk-In Workshops

Computing workshops scheduled by instructors are offered quarterly at no charge.

Workshops are offered in these five categories:

  • Web Publishing
  • Digital Video
  • Graphics and Presentation
  • Digital Audio
  • Documents and Spreadsheets

Walk-in workshops are designed and taught by our student instructors and are offered in a fun, casual atmosphere.  To attend, you will need a current student, staff or faculty UW NetID.  Registration is optional.  However, if a workshop fills, seating preference will be given to registered participants.

Custom Workshops

Custom workshops are available upon request.  Custom workshops for Canvas, Tegrity and Catalyst are offered free of charge.  Other custom workshops are free only to courses in the UW Time Schedule and to student groups.

Interested faculty and staff groups may arrange a custom workshop for a fee.

UW Information Technology provides access to two sets of Microsoft online training resources:

Walk-in workshop classroom instruction is provided in Mary Gates Hall and Odegaard Undergraduate Library.  Schedules vary, but classroom instruction generally is offered afternoons, Monday through Friday, with some weekend offerings.  Most courses require current student, staff or faculty UW NetID.

Mobile & web app that helps students find campus study spaces
Service Description: 

Currently, SpaceScout™ allows any student with an iOS device or access to a Web browser to quickly and easily locate campus spaces. Students can search by locating spaces on a map, or by specifying search criteria: type of space, capacity, hours available, whether the space can be reserved, location, noise level, lighting, learning resources (whiteboard, etc.), and proximity to food/coffee. Photos of each space help students choose exactly what they’re looking for.

At present, the app includes over 200 spaces in 26 buildings that span the UW-Seattle campus north to south and east to west. New spaces are constantly being added, and will include the UW-Tacoma and Bothell campuses in the future. With building renovations, remodels, and upgrades continually changing the landscape of learning resources on campus, SpaceScout™ provides a single place to go for up-to-date information on spaces that can help students accomplish their work.

Your personal portal to UW Web services
Service Description: 
MyUW is the enterprise portal for accessing commonly-used University of Washington resources and services via the Web.
 
MyUW provides relevant and personalized content for users that supports their goals at the UW based on their relationship to the university.
 
MyUW is accessible via Web browser. Additionally, a mobile-optimized version of MyUW is available for students and provides them personalized, on-the-go information, relevant to their studies, including course schedules, instructor information, class locations, required texts and more.
 
Users can also customize the full-site version of the MyUW enterprise portal by including or excluding the content listed, adding their own favorite links in a custom content box on any MyUW page, and using drag and drop to move the content boxes to different locations on the page.
 
In addition, campus units can develop content for publication on the full-site version of MyUW. See information under "How to Order" about publishing content on MyUW.

Service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the exception of upgrades, maintenance, and outages. Service and servers are monitored for interruptions.

Planned maintenance for a system upgrade is generally one to two times per year from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on a weekend.

For unplanned outages, the system is restored as soon as possible.
