A background check is required of all students participating in the High School Tutor/Mentor Program. The State of Washington requires this background check for individuals who work with children, developmentally disabled people and other vulnerable groups. The UW OMA&D uses the Washington State Patrol’s Washington Access to Criminal History (WATCH) portal to provide the required background checks on Tutor/Mentor participants prior to program entry. UW students will only receive an add code for the course via email after the criminal history check has been approved.
This background check is required in order to participate in the UW OMA&D Tutor/Mentor program and work with vulnerable populations at Seattle Public High Schools.
