CBDNA 2011 National Conference: Seattle, WA

Tom Duffy, CBDNA President

It has been almost forty years since a CBDNA National Conference has been presented in the West! And what a part of the West – beautiful Seattle!

The upcoming CBDNA National Conference in Seattle (March 23-26) is hosted by the University of Washingon. Tim Salzman and his staff are assembling an exciting conference. We have been planning a conference that takes advantage of the culinary bounty and beauty of Seattle, with events and concerts at both the University of Washington and downtown in the world-class Benaroya Hall.

Congratulations are in order for the ensembles that have been selected to perform in Seattle. They are: Ball State University Wind Ensemble, Tom Caneva, conductor; Boise State University Symphonic Winds, Marcellus Brown, conductor; California State University, Long Beach Wind Symphony, John Carnahan, conductor; Hartt School Wind Ensemble, Glen Adsit, conductor; Central Washington University Wind Ensemble, Larry Gookin, conductor; University of Miami – Frost Wind Ensemble, Gary Green, conductor. They will join the host University of Washington Wind Ensemble conducted by Tim Salzman, the Small College Intercollegiate Band, conducted by Lowell Graham, and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra with Gerard Schwarz.

This conference is going to be an event you won’t want to miss. I look forward to seeing you in Seattle!
