Research summary
I worked with Professor Benjamin on membrane-based technology for drinking water treatment. The current research is designed to test the hypothesis, that the very act of passing through the membrane causes a small portion of the natural organic matter to coagulate and form a gel, which is the true cause of the fouling. The next step is to test the membrane fouling degree at different water chemistry condition, such as pH, calcium concentration, etc. The morphology and chemical composition of the membrane fouling is also one part of future research.
