Education

Forest Ecology, Sichuan University
(studied genetics when at the UW)

Research summary

When I worked in the Eichler lab, most of my time was spent on a human duplication called LCR16a (low-copy repeat sequence ‘a’ from chromosome 16). Details of it can be found through Positive selection of a gene family during the emergence of humans and African apes (Matthew Johnson etc, Nature VOL413, 2001).

Highlights

- Well, the most important thing I wanna say is I put my feet on the land of America. lol

- The most exciting thing is that I went to Key Arena, to watch the NBA live, which is only available from TV before and after that.

- The happiest thing is that I got baptized, but I don’t think all Chinese can accept it as happiness.

- The most boring thing is that I had to cook every day, which almost killed me. Ahhhh……..

- The most obvious thing is that my English improved a lot while Chinese backslid more.

- The last thing that I obtained was the opportunity to know a lot of friends (working in International Friends Org), the labmates, etc. Above all, I cherish my memories from the UW.
