Tho Nguyen, as a result of his involvement with the IGERT, has been awarded 2 grants along with his Advisor, Dr. Linda Bushnell. The first one is a Royalty Research Fund grant for 35K to pursue sensors for Dr. Jennifer Ruesink. The second is an NSF grant for 240K to work on the shrimp farms and the saltwater hydrological control systems. Congratulations Tho!

Stevan Harrell awarded a grant from the Simpson Center for Humanities
This grant will support the symosium "Explorers and Scientists on China's Borders, 1880-1950" to be held at the Burke Museum in January 2007.

Liu Haizhou had his paper accepted by the 3rd International Water Association Young Researchers Conference
Congratulations to Liu Haizhou! He will attend the conference to be held in Singapore in May 2006 and give a platform presentation about the research he did at the University of Washington during his exchange in 2004-2005.
