Riboswitches are genetic control elements that are found in the 5’ untraslated region (UTR) of mRNA. The structured domain of riboswitch binds to target cellular metabolites with high selectivity. The metabolite binding leads to conformational changes that regulate gene expression without protein factor. Molecular details of riboswitch-metabolite complex have been unveiled by NMR and X-ray crystallography. However, it is still unclear how riboswitch is folded upon metabolite binding. My research is focused on dynamics study about the structural transition of riboswitch via metabolite binding by using NMR techniques.
