Software Registration/Invention Disclosure
Digital Ventures uses two different forms to record works created at the University
of Washington. These forms are available only after consultation with Digital
Ventures. Digital Ventures will request that the Software
and Digital Media Registration be completed for all software and digital
works. The Invention
Disclosure should also be completed where Digital Ventures staff have indicated
that the innovation may be patentable. Disclosure of inventions is required
under all federal grants and many other external sponsors now include disclosure
provisions in their grants as well. You may be able to use information from
one form to complete the other form but please review the questions and fields
carefully before transferring information from one form to the other. You will
also need records concerning your funding history, publication history, pending
publications, and development history of the work. Developers often find it
useful to gather these documents prior to filling out the forms. UW Tech Transfer
Invention Licensing uses a separate process and form
for inventions in engineering and health sciences.
