Drug Interaction Database
The Metabolism and Transport Drug Interaction Database was developed in the
Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy at the University of Washington. The purpose of this project is to provide an analysis
tool for scientific researchers and clinicians that allows them to discover correlations among
the huge amount of drug research findings available. The user can search the database
using a number of standard or customized queries and approach the data from
many different perspectives. The database is Web-based, and is regularly updated
by the Drug Interaction Database staff.

The Drug Interaction Database is based upon original research articles
that have been categorized by
- in vivo information such as pharmacokinetic interactions, pharmacodynamic
interactions, clinical case reports, and single-drug pharmacokinetics
- in vitro information for cytochromes P450
- other metabolic enzymes and transporters
- enzymes affected by inducers, inhibitors, and activators
The Drug Interaction Database displays the information contained in each
article in an original format. The database thus provides both general
and specific information ranging from the type of clinical study design
or in vitro incubation conditions to measured in vitro Km
and Ki values.

| Mergers & Acquisitions |
Licensees of the University of Washington's Drug Interaction Database notify the UW of mergers and acquisitions. It is the UW's policy that when the organizations that merge desire to maintain the same level of access in the new, combined company as they had as separate entities, the following pricing policy will apply:
Provided the merger would not change any other terms in the license, such as company size, scope or type of use of the Database, or other elements, upon the first renewal cycle where the organizations have merged, the licensee would receive a 20% discount from the price they are currently paying for the smaller contract with the UW. Example: An organization paying $50,000/year and an organization paying $20,000/year merge. Upon the next renewal period, if the new combined organization desires to maintain the same level of access, the licensee would now pay $66,000. Organizations would be able to change access levels or types of use, should they desire.
