Leaves Berlin in ill health without completing his degree

Returns to Berlin, co-founds the journal Die freie Bühne für modernes Leben, publishes Zur Kritik der Moderne

Travels to Vienna where he meets Hofmannsthal, Schnitzler, and Beer-   Hofmann at Cafe Griensteidl, publishes Die Überwindung des Naturalismus

Co-founds the weekly newspaper Die Zeit

Marries Rosa Joel

Fervently s upports the Secessionist Art Movement, acts as adviser for the Jugendstil journal Ver Sacrum
