To achieve the objective for breastfeeding of infants
and toddlers, the priority recommendation seeks to assure
that health care settings, child care facilities, and
worksite environments are breastfeeding friendly.
The description below illustrates what organizations and
communities are doing to support priority recommendations
to promote and support breastfeeding.

The
goal of the project is to increase duration rates
for breastfeeding by increasing awareness and support
for breastfeeding among child care providers. The
objectives are: 1) Provide consultation, training
and support to licensed child care centers and family
home care providers to implement best practices
to support and encourage breastfeeding; 2) Convene
a community workgroup to identify the components
of a "Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Program".
|
Target
audience: Child care center and child care family
home providers.
|
Evaluation:The impact
of the trainings will be measured by evaluations completed by participants at the completion
of the training. We will not be able to evaluate the impact of the breastfeeding friendly child
care criteria until we are able to find funding to support the implementation of the program.
