To achieve the objective for breastfeeding of infants and toddlers, the priority recommendation seeks to assure that health care settings, child care facilities, and worksite environments are breastfeeding friendly.

The description below illustrates what organizations and communities are doing to support priority recommendations to promote and support breastfeeding.


The goal of the project is to provide lactation education and supplies to both active duty sailors and their family members. We have created a program to keep active duty sailors breastfeeding once they return to work.

Target audience: Active duty female sailors, family members of sailors.

Evaluation: At six months we will review the numbers of participants utilizing the service and conduct a satisfaction survey.
Partners: WIC of Snohomish County Fleet and Family Service Center at Smokey Point.

Lead agency role: Naval Station Everett has a health promotion department that provides wellness programs throughout the base to sailors and their families.
