Developing model policies to promote active community environments is one of the priority recommendations in the Washington State Nutrition and Physical Activity Plan.
Several communities in Washington have set up interlocal agreements or made provisions in their comprehensive plans to promote active community environments. The agreements cover park use, facility use, and creation of walking and biking trails.
