The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity recently launched a new web-based resource called Making Schools the Model for Healthier Environments Toolkit. This toolkit is designed for groups working to improve the school nutrition environment.
This resource offers links to general information about national school meal programs and strategies for improving the school nutrition environment. Federal school nutrition programs are the keystones to the diets of millions of American children. Schools have the opportunity to support healthy nutrition habits early in life by creating environments that encourage the consumption of healthy foods and beverages.
Included among General School Nutrition Resources are sections with Farm to School resources, local school wellness policies, and case studies of successful initiatives.
