Washington State Healthy Youth Survey
The Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) has been completed by students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 every two years since 2002. The survey provides state and county level data about health risk and protective factors including physical activity and diet that can be used to guide policies and programs. Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System
BRFSS is a continuously conducted telephone health survey used by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state health departments, and other health agencies to monitor modifiable risk factors for chronic diseases and other leading causes of death. BRFSS~IQ provides customizable queries of Washington State and county data.
Obesity Rates in Washington State
Obesity prevalence and trends in Washington, including trends by age, gender, race, hispanic origin, education, income and geographic region.
Risk Factors for Obesity
Prevalence and trends for fruit and vegetable intake, food insecurity, breastfeeding and physical activity. Youth data are included.
Reports available for each county compare county-level rates of obesity, risk factors and related chronic diseases to those of Washington State.
State Indicator Report on Physical Activity, 2010
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report provides information on physical activity behavior and policy and environmental supports within each state.
Healthy Community Environments
State-level data on availability of healthy foods in grocery stores, restaurants and school, walkable destinations and recreational opportunities, use of built environment features, physical activity in schools, television and recreational computer use.
Healthy Worksite Environments
Data on availability of healthful foods, healthy food policies and practices, physical activity policies and practices, and breastfeeding support and resources in Washington worksites. (Updated 1/2008)
