ArtsConnectEd is the product of a partnership between The Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Walker Art Center.  It contains images, video and audio, lesson plans and online activities.
English/Language Arts
The English Teacher Web Page -- A retired English teacher provides content as well as pedagogical insights.
Educational Press -- Create free educational worksheets, flashcards, game boards, and quizzes. Simply choose a word list, an output style, and print directly from your browser. (non-profit).
Math
The Math Forum -- MF is the leading online resource for improving math learning, teaching, and communication. In addition to a wealth of problems and puzzles, MF offers online mentoring, research, team problem solving, collaborations, and professional development. (non-profit)
NCTM | Figure This! -- Figure This! is designed to support mathematics learning for middle school students and their parents. (non-profit)
Shodor Interactive -- The Shodor Foundation is a research and education organization dedicated to the advancement of science and math education, specifically through the use of modeling and simulation technologies.(non-profit)
Mathgoodies -- Free math help site launched in 1998. A pioneer of interactive math instruction and free online homework help. Also has an active discussion forum. (non-profit)
National Academy Press | How Students Learn: Mathematics in the Classroom -- This online book show how to overcome the difficulties in teaching math to generate real insight and reasoning in math students. It also features illustrated suggestions for classroom activities.
Science
Science Notebooks in K12 Classrooms -- Exists to support local teachers in their quest to use science notebooks in their classrooms. Contains examples of student work from science notebooks, commercially developed science instructional materials, and strategies to use notebooks with these materials.
The Why? Files: Science Behind the News -- The Why Files produces a new story each week, alternating longer features with shorter shorties. It also post a biweekly column by science reporter Tom Siegfried, a series of interactive science animations, the ever-popular "Cool Science Images," and a series of Teacher Activity Pages linked to the national science standards. National Academy Press | How Students Learn: Science in the Classroom -- Organized for utility, the online book explores how the principles of learning can be applied in science at three levels: elementary, middle, and high school. Leading educators explain in detail how they developed successful curricula and teaching approaches, presenting strategies that serve as models for curriculum development and classroom instruction.

Social Studies
Cultivating Peace -- This site provides teachers with resources to encourage youth to respect diversity, think globally, value human rights, recognize injustice and respond to conflict with methods other than violence.
World Affairs Council -- A Seattle non-profit, non-partisan organization, it is the leading foreign affairs forum in the Pacific Northwest. "Global Classroom" features student- and teacher-friendly activities.
Disability Studies for Social Studies Teachers -- Web-based resource for teachers who want to introduce grade 6-12 students in social studies, history, literature, and related subjects to disability studies and disability history.
HistoryLink.org -- History Link is the online encyclopedia of Washington state history. It advertises 4187 essays on various aspects of Washington's past.
History News Network -- Journalists provide context for contemporary news events as they happen.
Museum of History and Industry -- A vast resource of school programs and professional development for teachers. Contains vast photographic archive.
Washington State History Museum -- Locate information about field trips, resources, and curriculum materials.  (Check out History Lab.)
Center for the Study of the Pacific Northwest -- The Center for the Study of the Pacific Northwest creates and distributes packets of curriculum materials for secondary-school courses on the history of Washington and the Pacific Northwest. Other resources as well.
How Students Learn: History in the Classroom -- The online book explores the importance of balancing students' knowledge of historical fact against their understanding of concepts, such as change and cause, and their skills in assessing historical accounts.

Teachers First -- Lesson plans, web-based lessons, and content area resources.  Requires some digging.  Created by Network for Instructional TV (not-for-profit).
Teachnet -- Lessons from various sources, but primarily teacher-created. (commercial)
Teachers Network -- There are three types of lessons provided at this site: a) plans for new teachers written by new teachers; b) teacher-created plans; and c) teacher-created  web-based plans. (non-profit)
Blue Web'N -- Library of Internet sites that can be tailored by format (tools, references, lessons, resources, etc.). (non-profit)
PBS Teacher Source -- Educators can search for more than 3,000 free lesson plans and activities to use in the classroom. (non-profit)
Education-World.com -- An annotated listing of many online lesson plan sites.  Some of the links need updating, but access to link content usually available. (commercial)
