The Centers for Disease Control, Division of Adolescent and School Health provides this biannual survey to states for the purpose of tracking middle, junior and high school health policies and health education content. The survey is administered to principals and lead health teachers in a statewide sample. Washington has created fact sheets highlighting some of the findings from the Profiles data. Survey topics include:

  • School health education requirements and content
  • Physical education requirements
  • Asthma management activities
  • Food service
  • Competitive foods practices and policies
  • Family and community involvement in school health programs
  • School health policies on HIV and AIDS prevention, tobacco-use prevention, violence prevention, and physical activity
