Research Activities
The research mission of the Washington Institute for Mental Health Research & Training (WIMHRT) is to conduct applied research designed to aid in improving the quality of behavioral health services in Washington State. Studies are designed to report on and/or evaluate one or more of the following:
- Assess the efficacy and effectiveness of services
- Consumer involvement and satisfaction with services
- Usefulness of measurement tools and processes
- System integration and effectiveness
- Risk assessment and prediction
- Assessment of training outcomes
- Fidelity of evidence-based practice
- Other projects
Examples of current and/or recent research include:
- Survey of adults consumers receiving community Mental Health services
- Survey of residents and visitors at Western State Hospital
- Fidelity assessments of Washington's PACT Teams
- Prediction of risk of recidivism of mentally ill offenders
- Survey of community capacity to address co-occurring disorders
- Survey of evidence-based practices being utilized in Washington State
- Validation study for GAIN SS
- Transformation Grant Telephone Survey (2006)—funded through the Mental Health Transformation Grant, WA State
- Youth Development Program (YDP)—funded through Dept. of Health, WA State
