Trauma-Focused CognitiveBehavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Thearpy (TF-CBT) is a components-based psychosocial treatment model that incorporates elements of cognitive-behavioral, atachment, humanistic, empowerment, and family therapy models. The main premise of the model is that clients who have been explosed to traumatic events and are suffering from traumatic stress-related symptoms benefit from exposure-based treatment that encourages them to 1) face their traumatic memories in a safe and supportive environment, 2) practice and learn adaptive coping skills, and 3) restructure cognitive distortions that they have about the traumatic event. This 4-hour training will provide a broad overview of the TF-CBT model and allow for practice and skills development of some of the core components. The session will be flexible so as to accommodate differing levels of experience with TF-CBT among participants.
