About These Sites
The list of internship sites presented below is suggestive, rather than comprehensive. Most of the sites are places where a Women Studies student has already done an internship. In that case, a review of the site is available in the 497 binder outside of the Women Studies Advisor's office. Where possible, we have provided a link to the site's home page or volunteer information page. Please see the Women Studies Advisor for more information.

Women & the Arts

Other suggestions, though we have yet to have Women Studies majors do internships yet:

  • Art Corps (multiple art education programs for young people – i.e. photography, dancing, creative writing, etc.
  • Bent, A Writing Institute (An LGBTIQ writing institute
  • Colors NW Magazine (multicultural publication focusing on communities of color in the NW
  • Eat the State (politically oriented local newspaper)
  • KCBS Community Radio
  • Ladyfest Seattle (arts/music/culture fest; may not occur every year)
  • Local film festivals (various)
  • Mockingbird Times (newspaper for youth who are in foster care and/or homeless)
  • Real Change (newspaper by and for homeless people in Seattle )-- Women of Real Change program– contact Brooke Kempner
  • Reel Girls (after school media and technology program for young women)
    Richard Hugo House (non profit for writers, writing education, community)
    Three Dollar Bill Cinema(Organizes the Gay and Lesbian Film Fest in May/June)
    Yes Magazine (located on Bainbridge Island) (non profit magazine focused on sustainable living and positive social change)
