The purpose of this test prep workshop is to introduce the graduate school applicant to the structure, content, and logic of the GRE Test. In this course, we will share the test-process analysis, complete content review, and practice questions. We will also discuss anxiety reduction and study techniques in order to empower the student to aim to perform competitively on the GRE. Emphasis will be placed on learning appropriate timing and strategies designed to account for the adaptive nature of this complex computerized exam.

Required Text: Required book: Cracking the GRE, by the Princeton Review, 2010 ed. (with or without CD).

Note: This course assumes basic math ability. If you feel you are not prepared for the GRE Math section, please consider the Basic Math Refresher Course described below.

Math skills fade with time for everyone. Come and refresh your arithmetic and algebra abilities in order to prepare yourself for the GRE Test Prep Course. If math fundamentals are fresh in your mind, learning appropriate timing and strategies for the GRE will be much easier.

Note: this class is NOT a GRE strategy class; it covers math skills only and should be accompanied by the GRE Preparation Course.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations for the GRE Prep Course or Basic Math Refresher must be received prior to the start of class in order to receive a refund. The $15 processing fee associated with the GRE Prep Course or the Basic Math Refresher is not refundable and serves as a cancellation fee. If a person exempt from the processing fee cancels, there is still a $15 cancellation penalty applied. If you are canceling 5 days prior to the start of class, you’ll receive a 100% refund of the course fee (minus the $15 penalty); if you cancel less than 5 days prior, you’ll receive 50% of the course fee (minus the $15 penalty) . Refunds are not given for missed classes or no shows. You may make up missed classes in other sections within the same quarter, if available. Please click here for the Women’s Center’s full Registration and Cancellation Policy.

The GRE Test

The GRE is administered by a testing agency called ETS, including the general test and the subject tests. The ETS website provides detailed information on the GRE, including test preparation, sign up, and other useful tools.

Test Centers closest to Seattle are operated by Prometric. The Washington State test sites are located in Puyallup, Mountlake Terrace, Spokane, and Ellensburg. Click here to visit the Prometric website to locate a testing center and/or to sign up to take the GRE test.

Rescheduling your test date: You can reschedule your test date if you contact the testing center (via phone, online, or via mail) at least ten days prior to your scheduled date. Note that there is a $50 fee to reschedule the test.

Canceling your appointment to take the test: You can cancel your test, but you must cancel at least 10 full days prior to your test date, in order to receive a refund equivalent to half of the original test fee (The current fee for the General GRE Test is $140, so canceling 10 days in advance would mean a refund of $70).
