Scholarships

The UW Women’s Center offers resources aimed at increasing access to education for campus and community members. We maintain updated Scholarship and Financial Aid materials for use during our regular hours of operation (9-5, Mon.-Fri.)

The Women’s Center administers three scholarships each year:

Meena Vashee Scholarship is awarded to one individual each year who is a survivor of domestic violence or the child of a survivor. You must be a UW undergraduate student to apply. The scholarship is  awarded in the amount of $2000. Applications are due on May 31, 2016. Click here to download 2016-2017 Meena Vashee Scholarship Application.

 

Live Your Dream Award (Soroptimist International, Seattle Metropolitan)

Two education awards, one for $3,000 and one for $2,500, will be made to two women seeking a college or vocational degree who are the principal financial support for her dependents. The award may be used for tuition, books, childcare, transportation or any other education-related expense.  The winner at the club level will be eligible for additional awards at the Soroptimist Northwestern Region level.  To apply, click here to download the application. Avys Hathaway Scholarship Endowment Award (Soroptimist International, Seattle Metropolitan)

The Avys Hathaway Scholarship Endowment Award, (established by Avys herself, a club member for many years) is awarded to a single woman, head of household, from the Seattle community who is committed to attaining a higher education. The $3,000 scholarship is awarded based upon demonstrated need and is for the purpose of tuition and fees. The award is named for a long-time member who supported our club’s scholarships and fund raising. Two references are required. Edith Langley Memorial Scholarship is awarded to one  individual each year who is presently enrolled in or has been admitted to an undergraduate Nursing Program in Western Washington. The scholarship is awarded in the amount of $250. (More information about this scholarship will be posted soon.)

 

Habib Making Connections Scholarship was endowed by the Habib family to support underrepresented, economically disadvantaged students pursuing degrees in the Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) fields.  Due to a generous donation from the Habib family, the Making Connections Program will be awarding scholarships to two students each year.
