GRE PREP Express Summer Series

The purpose of this test prep workshop is to introduce the graduate school applicant to the structure, content, and logic of the Graduate Record Exam. We will share the test-process analysis, content review, and practice questions. We will also discuss anxiety reduction and study techniques in order to empower the student to aim to perform competitively on the GRE. Emphasis will be placed on learning appropriate timing and strategies designed to account for the changes in the format of the computerized exam. Registration closes one week before classes start. 

*Please bring to every class:

  • Book: Purchase Cracking the New GRE (Princeton Review 2014) (you can get with or without the DVD) * Older edition is okay.
  • Additional Materials: calculator (simple four function is fine, you don’t need anything fancy – the one on your phone will work!), pen/pencil, scratch paper to make notes and work out problems.

Self-Defense 101 for Women

Research indicates that women who successfully defended themselves quickly recognized threatening situations and enforced their boundaries, if necessary by physical means. Learn to recognize assailant ploys and manipulations ? and how to thwart them. Practice releases from common grabs and decisive strikes to vital targets. Assess your risks, and plan around them. Understand the connections between awareness, threats, and our media environment. Come prepared to challenge yourself! Registration closes one week before classes start.

SAT Prep Express

The goal of the course is to prepare you for SAT by reducing your anxiety, increasing confidence in your abilities, and arming you with practical and proven strategies. The SAT is a standardized test that becomes easier and more predictable with practice, preparation, and keen strategy. You will get to know the test from top to bottom, how it is scored, sectioned, timed, and designed. The focus will be on strategies that work, and you will get the chance to practice these strategies. Registration closes one week before classes start.

Instructor: Ken Matsudaira

Ken Matsudaira has been teaching SAT strategies for over fifteen years and has over twenty years of experience providing students with general tutorial assistance. He has experience working with all levels of students and, through his involvement with local TRIO programs, has a particular investment in assisting first-generation college students. He has a MA in Cultural Studies from UW Bothell and a BA from The Evergreen State College.

 

Class Refund Policy:

  • Refunds requested prior to the start of the first class session are subject to a 5% service charge.
  • Unfortunately, no refunds are allowed once the class has begun.
