A representative from one of the Washington science fairs contacted me to let me know that we're missing a few of the state's fairs. You can find information about all five Washington state science fairs at this site:

http://depts.bellevuecollege.edu/sciencefair/resource-center/wasciencefairs/

Three of the fairs are already over (Central Sound Regional Science & Engineering Fair March 10th and Mid-Columbia Regional Science and Engineering Fair March 8-10 and Southwest Washington Regional Fair March 3) but there are still two remaining to participate in, so here's their information:

South Sound Regional Science Fair: March 24th in Tacoma
Washington State Science and Engineering Fair: March 30-31st in Bremerton

You'll find another interesting response to the Ceci & Williams paper at a blog by Mike the Mad Biologist. He adds that women in academia, from grad students to post docs, to faculty members, often get tasked with cleaning up institutional messes. As a grad student contributing more than my fair share to making my department more supportive of women, I can certainly see his point.

The article mentioned above has incited yet another heated debate about whether discrimination against women in science is "over". The Association for Women in Science highlights some of the flaws of the Ceci & Williams study and provides links to several detailed analyses of the paper, from a few different viewpoints.
